Hello ABE Families!  Today is the first day for all PE classes to jump rope!    It would be very helpful if all students had a jump rope at home so they can practice the jump rope skills they learn in PE.  Jump ropes should be long enough so when a child stands in the middle they can pull the handles up to their armpit area.

First and second grade students will work with a long rope first and then we will pick up a short rope and work on turning the rope.  Third and fourth grade students will work on basic short rope skills...forward, backward, sideswings etc..  Fifth grade students are putting routines together that they will perform for their class during our big Jump Rope for Heart week starting Sept. 25- October 1.  And finally, 6th grade are learning how to jump with jump bands  which is a newer version of  Chinese jump rope or like tinikling bamboo poles.

Jump Rope for Heart information will be sent home this week on the day your child has PE.  Let's make a difference and help raise money for the American Heart Association!

Thank you!!  Mrs. Verbarg
